Candy Doll Lipsticks

As a die hard fan of Tsubasa Masuwaka, I've been using Dolly Wink and Candy Doll products for awhile. Due to an unfortunate incident my favourite lipstick melted so I decided to treat myself to two new ones from Tsubasa's Candy Doll range!

Candy Doll is a range that is produced by Tsubasa Masuwaka. She used to single handedly advertise the products that she released, but as of late she's brought Dakota Rose onboard as a model for advertising. They're both super cute.

I purchased the lipsticks in Pink Grapefruit and Ramune Pink.


The packaging is quite bulky but I find this to be common with Japanese cosmetics so I don't find it a problem, although some other people might!

The lipstick cases are a simple shade of black with some gold detailing showing that it's from Candy Doll. In comparison to the old containers these are so much better; the older cases looked extremely cheap and something I would expect a £1 lipstick to come in. I'm really pleased these were changed.


Candy Doll lipsticks tend to be creamy and moisturising. Usually I don't feel like I have to wear lipgloss with these which is a bonus as I absolutely detest lipglosses. Not even my Candy Doll lipgloss can make me love it.

The con to these lipsticks is that they don't last long. They have to be reapplied very frequently and I personally think that sometimes they can look a bit cakey. It's definitely recommended that you buffer your lips before applying these lipsticks.


The shades certainly aren't unique to Candy Doll; I've found many drug store lipsticks of the same quality and at a cheaper price in these exact same shades. You're definitely paying a premium for the brand name Candy Doll. If you have the cash to spend I think it's worth investing as I've never had an issue with these lipsticks but don't feel that you have to buy them just because Tsubasa produced them - I found a dupe of Ramune Pink for £3!

Although it sounds like I'm ragging a little on these lipsticks I recommend these wholeheartedly. There's not much I can say other than the formula being quite nice and the lipsticks are perfect colours for an understated look; if you're wearing a lot of eye make-up these are perfect to stop a massive make-up faux pas.

Pink Grapefruit is a lot brighter than Ramune Pink. It's definitely a statement kind of lipstick. It also has a bit of a shimmer in it which I was surprised to see!

Ramune Pink is more of a natural, neutral colour. It's not entirely nude as it's very pink when applied but it's not one to be in your face.

Overall I really do recommend these lipsticks, but I don't want to say BUY THEM just because they're Candy Doll. There are definitely cheaper alternatives on the market.

How Not to Treat Customers: A Negative Lockshop Review

After lusting after their wigs for absolutely months I finally bit the bullet and purchased a wig from Lockshop as mentioned in a GETS post from late last month. I had a few e-mails from you lovely blogders asking me to review the wig once it came which I have been eagerly awaiting to do.

Unfortunately, my review of Lockshop is less than glowing and I won't be able to use the lashings of compliments I was saving for their wigs. I've always heard about how good quality they are, how quickly items arrive and how nice the customer service team is which is why I chose to purchase from Lockshop instead of one of my usual wig providers.

However, I honestly can say I don't recommend Lockshop as a wig provider as I'm thoroughly disappointed by the treatment I've received from them.

I purchased the wig well in advance as I required this by today, 22nd May, and had an absolutely smooth payment run. All transactions were completed via PayPal.


Shortly after I made the grave error of clearing out my inbox, clearing out the e-mails I had received from Lockshop in the process. I really regret doing that as it had my tracking number in. The site Lockshop had sent me for tracking was deutschepost.de and I had successfully tracked the wig a few times before I lost all e-mails received between 17th April - 23rd April which was when these emails were sent.

I have tried restoring them from my Deleted folder but nothing will bring them up.

On 14th May I began to get concerned that no parcel had arrived. The YesAsia order I ordered the same day and was dispatched well after the Lockshop order had already arrived. As Lockshop is based within the EU I began to wonder if there had been a problem with my parcel and if there was anything that I could do resolve it if that was the case.


Using the information that was available to me on their Paypal, Tumblr, etc. I sent Lockshop an e-mail hoping to get some help from them in trying to locate my missing parcel. In the e-mail I included my full name which is what I had ordered under as well as the Paypal ID which they would have been able to look up and associate an order number with.


I awaited a response to my e-mail and checked my Spam folder every day. However, I didn't receive a response from them. Beginning to become frustrated I began venting on social media platforms such as Twitter hoping I would get a response as I could see that they had been updating their Instagram, Twitter, etc. and I was feeling ignored.

During this time period Lockshop, who have never ever associated with me before, began 'liking' pictures on my Instagram which was frustrating.

Lockshop's Twitter representative was nothing but helpful with me which was something I greatly appreciated! They advised I send another e-mail and also use the Contact Us form on Lockshop's website.

This is when alarm bells first started going off in my head as I found it slightly alarming that they had overlooked an e-mail that was sent to an e-mail address that Lockshop have been actively promoting on their Tumblr, Facebook, etc. as seen below:


I sent another e-mail and have received no response.

Beginning to become angry and frustrated at Lockshop I used the contact form on the website. I vented my frustrations and mentioned that I felt as though I could no longer recommend Lockshop to my blog readers and friends due to the poor service I had received from them so far. I also mentioned that if I didn't get a response (bearing in mind this was the third time I had attempted to contact them) I would be opening a Paypal dispute as I have not received the goods I paid for.


Due to becoming annoyed I was less polite in this message to them as I had been in previous messages.

I was surprised to receive a message back from Lockshop shortly after as by this point in time I had spent over a week trying to garner some sort of response from their customer service team. When filling in their Contact Us form it asks for order details (Order ID, etc.)


I was surprised when they asked for details I had already provided them with as well as insinuating that asking for my money back due to non-receipt of goods and poor service was threatening. Informing my blog readers of exactly how I've been treated by Lockshop with truthfully as I can with evidence is not threatening. It is simply telling the truth. Even if I had received my goods I would be doing a review mentioning at how poor I find Lockshop's Customer Services team.

It also feels as though Lockshop's Customer Service is unwilling to help me and is only begrudgingly doing so as it is their job,

Their response also confirmed one of my fears: Lockshop aren't actively checking an email address they are promoting for their store. Overlooking one e-mail I can understand, especially when they are in a busy period of moving warehouses. Two, not so much, especially when this e-mail address was the same one linked to their Paypal.

Adding insult to injury I woke up this morning to Lockshop liking Instagram photos of mine after being rude to me so I'm even less impressed with them. I'm being unbelievably petty but it feels like it's been in bad taste.


Would I recommend Lockshop to my readers?

No, I would not.

Would I purchase from Lockshop again?

I'm not particularly fond of throwing my money away for nothing. I had considered purchasing their Starlet wig or a Lucky Pack if they were still in stock if my wig ever showed up but that's out of the question.

I am honestly disappointed with my experience from what I thought was a reputable company. I will be continuing to purchase wigs from my current providers, one of those being Coscraft who tend to get my wigs to me the day after ordering.

Dreamy Bows

Whilst browsing on Tumblr I came across a store that catered to hime and lolita fashion, Dreamy Bows. I've never worn lolita because I personally feel like the style wouldn't suit me and I haven't got the guts to even think of dressing myself in Jesus Diamante but I decided to take a browse around the store anyway. It wouldn't hurt, right?

Wrong.

I ended up blowing far too much money there!

As a UK based importer of Japanese brands I found some surprises there. They stock from DreamV, Chocomint, Angelic Pretty, Dolly Wink, Diamond Lash... I could go on. I had been looking at a pair of shoes that I used to see on DreamV (ironically I can't see them on the store anymore so perhaps they were removed since...) but I had stopped myself from buying them due to sizing issues. DreamV actually had a size chart that broke the sizes down into UK sizes.

Did I crumble and buy them? Oh yes.

Was it worth it?


Yes.

The package arrived within two days and everything was securely wrapped. The shoes themselves came in a cute pink and white plastic bag and were in perfect condition. They even had a Dreamy Bows tag attached to them around the heart shaped heel so it was really easy to remove.

I was really surprised at how quickly they arrived and the size of the box they came in!

The website recommends going one size lower because the shoes are big fitting. I have awkward feet at a UK size 5.5 so I'm forced to usually wear a size 5 or 6. I bought the size L shoes and I promise you that they fit fine. There's even a little room should my big old feet decide they should want to grow.


Honestly, I thought these shoes were going to be a pain to keep on and uncomfortable. I've always had problems with slip on shoes but I've been lusting after these shoes forever so I was willing to deal with those problems. Surprisingly I've never once had these shoes slip off my feet. I've walked up hills in them, I've jumped around with them, I've stumbled around in them and they've always remained on my feet even with cute frilled socks on!

They're also surprisingly comfortable. I had heard that Japanese shoes had extra padding and were more contoured to the foot previously but I had always brushed this off because I've heard a lot of brands say that and fail to deliver.

These actually did. I didn't get any blisters from them and I had no sore feet despite wearing these shoes for hours at a time. I have extraordinarily weak ankles so I fall a lot and I never once fell over with these.


I'd honestly buy from Dreamy Bows again just because of how fast and convenient the shipping was and the fact that they convert shoe sizes for me. They also sell accessories, make-up, wigs, etc. I've actually purchased Chocomint accessories from them and they're exactly as pictured.

DreamV Quality Review

Blog reader Jessica gave me the idea to do a post on how some of the clothing I purchased from DreamV looked as compared to the website.

As always, I purchased these products with my own money.


The last two items I purchased from DreamV were these two dresse in Smoky Blue and Beige. The blue dress is super sweet and I think it stands out more in the blue than the pink.

With DreamV you definitely get what you pay for. The clothing is super cute but they're often cheaply made. You sacrifice nice materials for affordable prices.

Apologies for the pictures, it was raining outside on my free day so getting nice lighting was a pain.




The material is opaque and wrinkles really easily! It's a pain to keep nice. The skirt is thankfully not as opaque but because it's gathered it creases really easily due to the fabric.

Funnily enough, when you wear the dress it looks much nicer, not as opaque and a lot of the creases and wrinkles just... disappear.

Magic fabric?

Who knows...


The buttons sometimes look a little crooked. As you can see, they're not secured on with thick thread and have only a little to keep it secured onto the dress.

I find this to be standard for all DreamV products.

Nonetheless, the buttons have not come off any of my dresses from them yet so I guess they're studier than they look!


I think this picture has the best representation of the colour of the dress. The sleeves are incely sewn on.

One of my bows is crooked but I think that's something I can fix myself.

The open holes on the sleeves are super cute!


This is the zipper on the inside of the beige dress. I'm not particularly happy about how it looks but because it's on the inside of the dress it won't be visible.

The fabric is also opaque, but not as much as the smoky blue dress that I showcased before.



As previously said, with DreamV you get what you pay for but the clothes always look so cute when worn! The pictures on their website are sometimes a little misleading on the quality of the goods. In addition some of their things are made nicer than others; the polka dot dress feels so much better than the others and isn't as opaque. It's a super cute dress too.

You can purchase directly from their webstore but I'd recommend knowing at least some Japanese. Overseas buyers have to confirm the shipping via email in Japanese.

As a note, as a UK buyer everytime I've ordered from them I've been hit by customs chargers so always factor the additional cost in. Both times, my charges were £20.00

Because I'm super vain and I found a part of my room that gives me gorgeous pictures provided I lay down and add the filter I showed you guys about, here's a bonus picture of me.


As long as it makes me look pretty, I'm not moving from here okay??

Eye Eye Captain

Eye Eye Captain is an eye roller designed to reduce dark circle and puffy eyes. The special phyto complex reduces dark circles and cucumber de-puffs the eyes.



It's ridiculously simple to use; roll it on and leave it to do it's magic.

The difference doesn't show up too much on the pictures but it's definitely noticeable in real life! It removed the dark under eye circles and instantly brightened my eyes. I've been using it to make me look more awake on days I sleep in. ;)

Mattyfying Moisturiser

Mattyfying Moisturiser is what it says on the tin; it's a mattyfying moisturiser. It helps reduce any shine on your skin as well as reducing blemishes and blocked pores.



The first thing to say about this would be that it smells absolutely gorgeous! I don't know what else I could compare it too but trust me; this smells super duper nice. It's also not very greasy which is wonderful as I often expect greasiness from cheap products and extremely quick working. It also keeps the face soft and supple for a full day.

I cannot praise this product highly enough. It's amazing for the price.



A little goes a very long way with this; the sample I have on my hand is far too big for it!

Hand Lotion

Last, but certainly not least, is the Hand Lotion from this collection. I don't want gross old lady hands so it's important to use a hand cream.



The packaging is ridiculously cute. Just like the moisturiser, this smells absolutely gorgeous and is non-greasy. I was surprised as I expected it to be and had to use more hand cream than I thought. It keeps your hands feeling soft for a few hours and the scent lingers for one or two hours afterwards.



I usually use around this much and it covers both hands and my cuticles. Not bad!!

Overall I find The Beauty Parlour's products to be really quite good for their cheap price and I would defiitely use these again. From the packaging to the products themselves, everything is super cute.
